Timo Tekoniemi is a University Researcher at the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Theology, specializing in Biblical Studies. He serves as a Supervisor for the doctoral programme in Theology and Religious Studies. His research focuses on textual criticism, ancient biblical texts, and their historical reception, with particular attention to the Books of Kings, Septuagint studies, and gender criticism.
Key projects include participation in the Academy of Finland-funded projects like The Hexapla of 1-2 Samuel and CSTT: Centre of Excellence in Changes in Sacred Texts and Traditions. He has contributed to encyclopedic entries on figures like Nehushta and Nimshi, and published peer-reviewed chapters on Elijah's characterization and textual histories.
Recipient of the EABS 2016 Student Prize and the 2019 Teologisen tiedekunnan Väitöskirjapalkinto, Tekoniemi has actively engaged in academic activities such as visiting researcher roles at Louvain la Neuve (2022) and presenting at international conferences like the European Association of Biblical Studies Annual Meeting (2024).
