Paavo Huotari is a researcher in Theology at the University of Helsinki, specializing in textual criticism of sacred texts. He completed his doctoral thesis in 2024 on the Lucianic Revision of 2 Samuel, published as a monograph. His work focuses on the Septuagint, Biblical textual transmission, and the history of religious texts. He participated in the Academy of Finland's Centre of Excellence in Changes in Sacred Texts and Traditions (CSTT) and contributed to the S2S project on the Septuagint of 2 Samuel.
His research has been recognized with the 2024 Tiedonjulkistamisen valtionpalkinto (State Award for Popularization of Knowledge) for co-authoring Sensuroitu, a public book on Biblical textual history. He has presented at international conferences such as OTSEM and SBL, and engaged in media outreach discussing Biblical scholarship.
Huotari served as a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Divinity (2019–2020). His activities include organizing academic events and delivering invited talks on topics like the nature of the Biblical canon and early Christian literature.
