Timm Hackett is a Senior Lecturer in the English Department at East Carolina University's Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, where he has served since 1999 after transitioning from high school teaching and sports journalism. He currently holds leadership roles on the University Athletics Committee and previously chaired the Distance Education and Learning Technology Committee three times, the Unit Code Screening Committee, and the Academic Integrity Committee.
His academic credentials include an A.S. from Montreat College, a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and an M.A. from East Carolina University.
Hackett's research centers on Computers and Composition, exploring technology's role in writing pedagogy, alongside specialized interests in Cricket Literature and Children's Literature. His work bridges digital literacy with traditional literary studies, emphasizing practical applications in diverse educational settings.
His publication portfolio reveals a consistent focus on educational technology integration, particularly mobile platforms and collaborative tools for writing instruction. These works demonstrate progressive adaptation to evolving digital landscapes in both face-to-face and distance education contexts.
