Angela Raper

Angela Raper is a Teaching Professor in the English Department at East Carolina University, where she has taught since 1994. She holds a B.A. (English & History) and M.A. from ECU, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Converse College. Her research interests focus on Creative Writing and Pop Culture, with particular emphasis on Southern contemporary and historical fiction. Raper has been recognized with the 2020 Bertie Fearing Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2020 Campus Living Honored Instructor award. She teaches courses ranging from foundational literature studies to creative writing workshops, including ENGL 3850 (Introduction to Fiction Writing) and ENGL 3420 (The Short Story).
