Tim Jackson is Director of the Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP) and Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Surrey. His work spans ecological economics, post-growth economics, and societal well-being, focusing on redefining prosperity and economic systems.
- Education: PhD in Physics (St Andrews), MA in Mathematics (Cambridge), MA in Philosophy (Western Ontario), with honorary degrees from Brighton and Louvain
- Awards: Hillary Laureate (2016), Eric Zencey Prize (2022)
Research Focus: Circular economy principles (since 1990s), sustainable consumption, systemic inequality, and the ethical foundations of a care economy. His The Care Economy (2025) extends this manifesto globally.
Publications include seminal works like Prosperity without Growth (2009/2017), Material Concerns (1996), and Post Growth (2021). Collaborative work with Peter Victor explores stock-flow-consistent ecological macroeconomic models.
