Tim Hall is an Assistant Professor in the Professional Music Department at Berklee College of Music in Boston. A multidisciplinary artist and educator originally from Detroit, his work bridges music performance (saxophone), spoken word poetry, and artist development. He holds a Master's in Higher Education/Student Affairs from Iowa State University (2013) and a BS in Sports Management from Bowling Green State University (2009).
His research explores Black cultural expression, masculinity, and entrepreneurship through jazz, neo-soul, and hip-hop frameworks. Hall emphasizes artist resilience and community-building, notably as co-owner of HipStory (a media production company amplifying BIPOC voices) and trustee for Harvard's American Repertory Theater.
Hall has received significant recognition including the Boston Music Award for Session Musician of the Year (2020), Zumix's Artist Luminary Award (2019), and grants from Mass MoCA and The Boston Foundation. He performs with bands like STL GLD and collaborates with artists including Cliff Notez and Oompa.
