Tiffany Wheeler is a Professor of Education at Transylvania University, specializing in culturally responsive pedagogy and critical race theory. She holds an Ed.D. from the University of Kentucky (2007), an M.A. (1994) from the same institution, and a B.A. from Transylvania University (1990). Her work focuses on equity, race, and social class in American education, emphasizing cross-disciplinary approaches to foster intellectual curiosity in students. She chairs the Diversity Issues Subcommittee of the Transylvania President’s Advisory Council and has participated in Harvard’s civil rights summer institute (2011).
Teaches courses including Race, Ethnicity, and Social Class in American Education, Constructivist Pedagogy, and Supervised Teaching across grade levels. Research interests include sociocultural perspectives of literacy instruction and the history of African American education.
Professional memberships include the American Educational Research Association (AERA), International Reading Association (IRA), and Kentucky Reading Association (KRA). Her recent publications address equity in pedagogy and ability grouping in schools.
