Tiercelin Claudine

Claudine Tiercelin is Professor of Philosophy at the Collège de France, holding the Chair of Metaphysics and Philosophy of Knowledge since 2010. Previously, she served as Professor at the Institut Universitaire de France (2007-2010), Fordham University (Chair C. S. Peirce, 2006-2007), University of Paris XII (1996-2007), University of Tours (1992-1996), and University of Paris I (1989-1992). She was an Associate Professor at University of Paris I and Assistant Professor at University of Rouen earlier in her career.

Her research interests focus on analytic metaphysics, epistemology, and classical/contemporary pragmatism, particularly centered on the works of Charles Sanders Peirce and Hilary Putnam. Her work explores natural kinds, dispositions, epistemic virtues, and the relationship between knowledge and democracy.

Tiercelin leads the Epistemology Research Group (20+ members across Europe) and the Metaphysics Study Group, fostering collaborative work in epistemology and metaphysics. She was Chief Scientist for the KNOWJUST Project (2008-2011), which investigated knowledge, metacognition, and justification frameworks.
