Professor Gérard Jaouen is a leading academic at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris, where he has held the position of Professor since 1983. He directs the bioorganometallic chemistry team in the Charles Friedel Department and previously led a CNRS-ENSCP mixed laboratory (1984–2009). His research focuses on organometallic chemistry applications in organic synthesis and pioneered the field of bioorganometallic chemistry.
- Affiliations: Institut Universitaire de France (1997), ParisTech International Scientific Council (2008)
He has held visiting roles at institutions including McGill University, McMaster University, and LMU Munich. Key achievements include over 400 publications, 14 patents, and major awards like the Elsevier Bioorganometallic Chemistry Award (2004) and France’s Legion d’Honneur (2006). His work has been recognized through special journal issues and international lectureships.
Research emphasizes synthesis of biologically active organometallic complexes, with contributions to medicinal chemistry and catalysis. His lab’s innovations have influenced undergraduate curricula and textbook integration of bioorganometallic concepts.
