Professor Renaud's research interests span organometallic synthesis, homogeneous catalysis, and their applications in material science and biological activity evaluation. His group focuses on developing new catalytic systems with an emphasis on green chemistry principles. Specific research areas include hydrogenation with iron complexes, luminescent materials with iridium and copper complexes, photocatalysis, and organocatalysis. His work bridges fundamental chemistry with practical applications in fine chemical synthesis and sustainable processes.
Analysis of Professor Renaud's recent publications reveals a strong focus on iron-based catalysis as a sustainable alternative to precious metal catalysts. His research demonstrates innovative approaches to hydrogenation, carbon-carbon bond formation, and CO2 conversion. The work often emphasizes green chemistry principles, utilizing water as a solvent and developing phosphine-free catalytic systems. There's also significant work on luminescent materials and their applications in lighting technologies.
- Best poster prize at ICOMC XXVI in Sapporo, Japan
Professor Renaud has supervised numerous PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, with current funding coming from various sources including the Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), Normandy Region, Ministerial scholarships, and ERC grants. His research group collaborates with institutions across Europe and North America, reflecting the international nature of modern chemical research.
The Jean-Luc Renaud Research Group operates within the Laboratoire de Chimie Moléculaire et Thio-organique (LCMT) at ENSICAEN, with laboratory space in Building B, First Floor, Rooms B105, B106, B107, B125, and B129. The group maintains active collaborations with researchers at the University of Toronto, University of Rennes, and various industrial partners.
