معرفی
Dr. Thomas Murray is a Professor of Pediatrics (Infectious Disease) at Yale University School of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics and Yale Institute for Global Health. He serves as Associate Chair for Quality & Safety in Pediatrics and Associate Medical Director for Infection Prevention at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, alongside leading the Winchester Pediatric Tuberculosis Clinic. With a dual MD/PhD from the University of Connecticut, he completed his pediatric residency and fellowships in infectious diseases and medical microbiology at Yale.
Education:
- MD and PhD, University of Connecticut (2000)
- Pediatric Residency, Yale-New Haven Hospital (2003)
- Fellowships: Pediatric Infectious Diseases & Medical Microbiology, Yale University School of Medicine (2007-2008)
Research Interests: Dr. Murray focuses on infection prevention in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients, studying host-pathogen interactions (e.g., Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and novel disinfection methods for home respiratory equipment. His work explores anti-inflammatory therapies like Sanguinate to mitigate CF lung inflammation and investigates aerosolized bacteriophage treatments for drug-resistant pathogens. He also examines broader infection control strategies, including hand dryer hygiene and antibiotic stewardship during outbreaks like COVID-19.
Key Contributions: Recent studies highlight his work on monocyte adaptation in inflamed lungs, barriers to NICU infection prevention, and gender disparities in pediatric sepsis treatment. His research bridges clinical care and translational science, with funding from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Awards:
- Champion of Children Award (2022)
- Norman J Siegel Faculty Award (2021)
Grants & Labs: Supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Dr. Murray collaborates with teams at the Center for Immersive Technologies and Winchester Tuberculosis Program. His lab investigates CF pathogenesis, disinfection efficacy, and pediatric infection dynamics.
