Thomas Menkhoff is a Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources (Education) at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University (SMU), where he has been a full-time faculty member since 2001. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology and Development Planning from the University of Bielefeld, Germany. His academic journey at SMU includes promotion from Associate Professor (2001–2011) to full Professor (2012–present), with additional roles such as Area Coordinator for OBHR and Curriculum Director for the iLEAP Non-Profit Leadership Programme.

His work also investigates innovation in Chinese family businesses, the Belt and Road Initiative, and smart city development.
