Dr. Thomas Levine is an Associate Professor in Curriculum and Instruction at UConn's Neag School of Education. He holds a PhD from Stanford University (2005), CAGS in Chinese from Clark University (2001), MAT from Tufts (1989), and BA from Brown. Research explores collaboration in professional learning communities and teacher preparation reforms.
Current work examines how collaboration creates opportunities for professional learning and practice improvement. Funded projects include intergenerational learning communities promoting youth civic activism and teacher education redesign using core practices. Serves as Executive Editor for Teaching and Teacher Education.
Teaching expertise includes social studies methods, bilingual teacher preparation, and professional development design. Developed China studies curricula and bilingual parenting practices through personal experience raising bilingual children.
