Suzanne M. Wilson is a Neag Endowed Professor of Teacher Education at the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education, Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She holds a B.A. in American Civilization from Brown University, M.S. in Statistics from Stanford University, and Ph.D. in Education from Stanford. Previously, she spent 26 years at Michigan State University as a University Distinguished Professor in Teacher Education and directed the Teacher Assessment Project for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Her research focuses on teacher knowledge, curriculum reform, educational policy, and teacher learning, with recent work exploring measures of teaching quality and jurisdictional control over teacher licensure.
Wilson has directed 28 doctoral dissertations and advised on 35 others. She co-leads projects like Learning Science as Inquiry with Urban Advantage, investigating teacher professional development in NYC. Key roles include membership in the National Research Council’s Board on Science Education and the National Academy of Education. Awards include the AACTE Book Award and multiple Outstanding Reviewer accolades from the American Educational Research Association.
