Alan Marcus

Alan Marcus is Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Connecticut's Neag School of Education and UConn Teaching Fellow. He holds a PhD from Stanford University, MAT from Boston University, and BS from Tufts University. His scholarship examines innovative approaches to history education.

Research focuses on:

• Holocaust and difficult history pedagogy
• Museum education practices
• Film as historical text
• Global education frameworks

This work advances social studies instruction through multiple modalities.

Dr. Marcus directs education abroad programs and chairs Hartford's monument advisory committee. His publications include:

• Teaching Difficult History through Film (Routledge, 2017)

which are widely used in teacher education programs.
