معرفی
Thomas James is a Postgraduate Researcher and part-time PhD candidate in Neuroscience at Aston University's School of Psychology. He serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, overseeing courses in Psychology and Neuroscience. His research focuses on neural oscillations and their role in cognitive aging, using EEG/MEG technologies to identify biomarkers of age-related decline. He is supervised by Prof. Adrian Burgess.
Education:
- PhD (Research Neuroscience), Aston University (2018-2023)
- PGCert (Learning and Teaching in HE), Aston University (Distinction)
- MSc (Neuroimaging), Cardiff University (Distinction)
- BSc (Psychology), Swansea University (First Class)
Research Interests: Explores TSynch measures from the Firefly model to assess neural synchronization in aging populations. Also investigates open research practices and brain stimulation techniques (TMS/tDCS). Active in groups like the Cognition and Neuroscience Research Group (CNRG) and the Institute of Health & Neurodevelopment (IHN).
Recent Work: Published a 2025 paper linking EEG-based brain activity to chronological age as a diagnostic marker. His research bridges clinical neuroscience with methodological advancements in neuroimaging.
Roles:
- Personal Tutor (2018-current)
- Outreach Team Member
- ARCHA Panel Coordinator (2017-2021)
Labs/Teams: Collaborates within the Aston Research Centre for Healthy Ageing (ARCHA) and contributes to metascience initiatives promoting open research practices.
