معرفی
Johanna Zumer is a Lecturer in Psychology at Aston University's School of Psychology within the College of Health and Life Sciences. Her research focuses on understanding how the brain processes attention-demanding tasks using neuroimaging techniques like MEG, EEG, and fMRI. She investigates neural mechanisms underlying attention and perception disorders such as ADHD and autism, and explores multisensory integration. Dr. Zumer holds a PhD in Bioengineering from UC San Francisco/UC Berkeley and a BS in Applied Physics and Psychology from Yale University.
**Educations:**
- PhD in Bioengineering (UCSF/UC Berkeley, 2007)
- BS in Applied Physics & Psychology (Yale University, 2001)
- PGCert in Higher Education (2022)
**Research Interests:**
She studies visual attention, neural oscillatory mechanisms, and open-source neuroimaging software (e.g., NUTMEG). Her work bridges basic neuroscience with clinical applications, particularly in developmental disorders. Recent projects explore human engagement technologies and neurophysiological correlates of reward-related attention.
**Awards:**
- Academy of Medical Sciences Springboard Grant (2022-24)
- Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship (2015-18)
- Whitaker Scholar Award (2007-09)
**Teaching & Supervision:**
She teaches cognitive neuroscience courses at Aston and supervises PhD students (e.g., Ashley Goneso, Cliona Kelly). She has co-supervised multiple MSc projects at Radboud University and the University of Nottingham.
**Labs & Teams:**
Affiliated with the Cognition & Neuroscience Research Group (CNRG) and the Aston Institute of Health & Neurodevelopment. Active contributor to open-source neuroimaging software (NUTMEG).
