Thomas Hartvigsson is a Researcher at the University of Gothenburg's Department of Philosophy and Logic, affiliated with the FORevidence project. His work focuses on ethical challenges in forensic psychiatry, including care goals and patient recruitment ethics. Previously, he held a post-doc at the University of Essex, researching mental health legislation. He teaches in Global Health, Economics, and research ethics for Chalmers PhD students. He is a Medical Ethics Consultant for Region Halland and contributes to National Board of Health and Welfare analyses. His research spans patient autonomy, pediatric care ethics, and policy implications of mental health interventions.
Education: PhD thesis on patient decision-making rights and responsibility, followed by post-doctoral research on mental capacity legislation in the UK. Teaching includes practical philosophy, public health ethics, and master’s supervision.
