Thomas Hale is Professor in Public Policy (Global Public Policy) at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, and Director of the Master of Public Policy. His research tackles transnational governance challenges, emphasizing climate change, global health, and economic interdependence. He holds a PhD in Politics from Princeton University, a master's in Global Politics from the London School of Economics, and an AB in Public Policy from Princeton.
His research explores the evolution of political institutions to address globalization, with foci on:
- Climate governance mechanisms like the Paris Agreement and net-zero transitions
- Global health policy, including pandemic response tracking
- Transnational commercial disputes and cooperation frameworks
His recent publications (2022-2024) predominantly analyze climate policy effectiveness, net-zero accountability, pandemic governance, and geopolitical energy shifts.
