Thomas Andritsch

Thomas Andritsch is Associate Professor in Electrical Power Engineering at the University of Southampton and Operations Director of the Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory. His research advances dielectric materials for sustainable energy applications including recyclable HVDC cables, wave energy converters, and rail electrification.

Andritsch leads industry-funded projects with National Grid, Network Rail, and SBM Offshore. His group develops nanocomposite insulating materials with enhanced thermal and dielectric properties. Recent honors include the 2023 Best Student Paper Award.

As Director of Programmes, he oversees electrical/electronic engineering degrees and teaches courses in high voltage systems, electrical machines, and power generation technologies.
