Istebreq Saeedi

Dr. Istebreq Saeedi is a Lecturer in Electrical & Electronic Engineering at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Electrical Power Engineering research group. She holds an MSc (2014) and PhD (2020) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Southampton, funded by the Schlumberger Foundation's Faculty for the Future. Her research focuses on dielectric materials, green insulations, polymer composites, and smart polymeric materials, with a particular emphasis on high-voltage applications. She has led projects on polymeric materials for energy, oil & gas, and automotive industries during her tenure at The Welding Institute (TWI) in Cambridge.

Research Interests: Her work spans the development and characterization of dielectric materials, including bio-based polymers for sustainable insulation systems. She explores the fundamental physics of high-voltage dielectric materials and their applications in energy systems.

Publications: Recent work includes studies on PDMS elastomers, epoxy resins, and polypropylene nanocomposites, emphasizing mechanical and thermal aging effects. These contributions highlight advancements in material design for high-voltage applications.

Teaching & Supervision: She teaches courses such as ELEC6221 (Power Generation) and ELEC3211 (High Voltage Engineering). She currently supervises five PhD students focusing on electron and electrical engineering.

External Roles: She serves as a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation and High Voltage journals. She also participated in the 15th Universities High Voltage Network Colloquium (UHVnet) as a speaker (2023).
