Thivend Marianne is a University Professor of History of Education in the Department of Educational Sciences at Paris Cité University since September 2024, and a member of the research laboratory CERLIS. Previously, she taught contemporary history at Lumière Lyon 2 University (2001–2023), where she co-directed the master’s programme "Matilda – History of Women and Gender in Europe".
Research Focus: A historian of education, women and gender, her work centres on the vocational training of girls and the gendered educational construction of professions in 19th- and 20th-century France. Recent projects examine pioneering initiatives in commercial education for women (19th c.) and the schooling-to-work trajectories of young working-class girls after World War II.

Publications trend: Her recent monographs and edited issues synthesize decades of archival research to illuminate how gender shaped educational policy, curricula and labour-market access for French women, revealing long-term patterns of exclusion and gradual inclusion.
