Theresa Waight is a Lecturer in Social Science & Law at the School of Society and Culture, part of the University of Plymouth's Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business. As Foundation Stage Lead, she oversees programs in Anthropology, Law, Criminology, International Relations, Politics, Sociology, History, English, Drama, Acting, and Musical Theatre. She leads modules SSC301 (Discovering Your Inner Academic) and SSC304 (Human Rights and Social Justice), focusing on academic skill development and interdisciplinary exploration of power dynamics in human rights and social justice. Additionally, she serves as Academic Liaison for Public Services and Social Science Foundation Degrees across partner colleges.
Theresa is the Assistant Director of the University's Cold Case Unit, collaborating with Locate International to review missing persons cases globally. This initiative provides students with practical experience while supporting families of missing individuals. Her teaching spans over a decade, including roles in Public Services Management, Ethics, and Change Management modules (e.g., PSPM 301–304). She has supervised dissertations for BSc(Hons) International Business, BSc(Hons) Public Services, and MBA programs.
Her research interests bridge legal frameworks, social justice, and education, reflected in her module designs and cross-disciplinary collaborations. The Cold Case Unit’s work exemplifies her commitment to applying academic rigor to real-world societal challenges.
