Theresa Mallmann is a Researcher at the Department of European and Comparative Literature and Language Studies within the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna. Her academic roles include being a research assistant (pre-doc) on the FWF project Ludwig Tieck’s Library since 2018 and a grant recipient for the ÖAW-DOC Stipendium project Provenienz erzählen. Herkunft, Translokation und Restitution als Themen der Gegenwartsliteratur (2024–2028).
- Education: BA & MA in Comparative Literature (2009–2018) at University of Vienna, completed with distinction.
Research Interests focus on provenance research in libraries and literature, the history of book trade, literary historiography, romanticism studies, and literary antisemitism. Her work examines the material and cultural trajectories of literary collections, particularly Ludwig Tieck’s library fragments transferred to Polish libraries.
Recent Publications include a monograph on 19th-century Romantic book collections and peer-reviewed articles analyzing Tieck’s annotations to Shakespeare. Her project funded by ÖAW-DOC explores themes of provenance and restitution in contemporary literature.

Activities include conference talks on Ludwig Tieck’s library provenance and intertextuality in Karl Kraus’s legal papers.
