Dr. Theodora Karalidi is an Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Central Florida, specializing in exoplanet and brown dwarf atmospheric studies. She earned her PhD from Leiden University and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Arizona and UC Santa Cruz before joining UCF in 2019.
Her research develops spectropolarimetric techniques to characterize atmospheric dynamics and cloud structures of celestial bodies. She co-discovered banded cloud patterns on brown dwarfs, published in Science (2017), revolutionizing understanding of substellar atmospheric dynamics.
Karalidi teaches advanced astrophysics courses and leads observational campaigns using ground-based telescopes and space instrumentation data.
