Thea Kruse is a Researcher at the Seminar for History and History Didactics, Europa-University Flensburg, and a member of the integrated graduate college of the Collaborative Research Center 1604 'Produktion von Migration' since April 2024. She previously held positions at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at the University of Osnabrück (September 2022–February 2024) and served as a Referentin at Germany’s Federal Ministry of Health (L 7 division, September 2022–February 2024).

Her research focuses on migration and border regimes, transnational approaches in historical and social sciences, and interpretive policy research. She emphasizes interdisciplinary methodologies and explores French contemporary history through a global lens.
Scientific awards include the Georges-Arthur-Goldschmidt Scholarship (2022) and the Excellence Prize / Prix d'Excellence (2019) from the Franco-German University. Her career spans roles at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign Public Law and International Law (Heidelberg) and the University of Regensburg’s Romance Studies Institute.
