Lale Yildirim is a Professor of History Didactics at Kiel University, specializing in historical thinking in diverse societies, migration research, and digital public history. She serves as Project Manager for Subproject A3 and the Transfer Project in the Collaborative Research Center 1604: Production of Migration at the University of Osnabrück. A member of the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS), she contributes to debates on historical cultural agency and migration-induced social order production.

Her research focuses on historical semantics of migration-related terminology, reflexive knowledge production, and school-practice interactions. She examines how academic language encodes migrant society realities and analyzes figures of migration like 'guest worker children' in educational contexts.
Recent publications explore Ottoman-German history in curricula, historical agency in plural societies, and interdisciplinary migration frameworks. She leads initiatives connecting academic research to educational policy while serving on the Conference for History Didactics (KGD) board since 2022.
