Katharina Kleynmans is a doctoral researcher at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at Osnabrück University. Since June 2024, she has been affiliated with the Collaborative Research Centre 'Production of Migration' (SFB 1604) as part of project B2, focusing on EU border management in the Eastern Partnership region between Romania, Ukraine, and Moldova. Her work explores the interplay between theoretical frameworks and practical implementations of border practices.

Prior to her PhD, Kleynmans worked as a project manager at a major German foundation, coordinating international programs on global challenges like EU-Russia relations, migration, health, and climate change. She also spent a year in Moldova as a German lecturer and project manager at Alecu Russo State University, facilitating exchanges between Ukrainian and Moldovan students.
