Terrence Cullen is a Visiting Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies at Vassar College since 2023. His research focuses on medieval French and Occitan literature, sound studies, and cultural politics of listening, with current work on Echo’s Vengeance, exploring listening practices in medieval texts. He teaches French language from elementary to advanced levels, as well as premodern literature courses like Monsters and Marvels, Medieval to Modern and Making Love in the Middle Ages.

His scholarship bridges medieval literature and modern sound theory, examining how sensory experiences shaped cultural narratives. Recent publications analyze aural anti-Judaism in medieval texts and pre-Edison sound theories, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach.
