Dr Emily Kate Price serves as a College Lecturer, Fellow, and Director of Studies in Modern and Medieval Languages (Part IB) at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages, where she also acts as Admissions Tutor for the Arts.
Her academic foundation includes a B.A. and M.St. in Modern Languages (French and Italian) from the University of Oxford, followed by an M.A. and PhD (awarded with distinction) from New York University.
Dr Price's research centers on medieval song and poetry traditions across French, Occitan, and Italian contexts, with specialized investigations into time and temporality, medieval music and sound studies, and translation theory and practice. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges literary analysis, historical musicology, and philosophical frameworks of time, emphasizing how medieval poetic forms negotiate temporal experience and cultural transmission.
As an educator, she leads the first-year FR1 paper and teaches advanced medieval French courses including Part IB FR3 (Love, violence and power in France 1100-1500), Part II FR7 (Defining the human in medieval French literature and culture), and FR15 (The Occitan erotic and troubadour discourse), demonstrating deep expertise in medieval textual production and performance.
