Terje Andreas Eikemo

Terje Andreas Eikemo is a Professor and Director of the Centre for Global Health Inequalities Research (CHAIN) at NTNU's Department of Sociology and Political Science. His work focuses on social inequality and health equity, combining sociology, epidemiology, and policy analysis. Eikemo leads international projects funded by the European Commission, NORFACE, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. His research addresses mechanisms linking welfare policies, environmental factors, and global health outcomes. Notable contributions include identifying systemic health inequalities in Europe and discovering universal links between parental education and child mortality (published in The Lancet). He received the 2009 Royal Norwegian Society's prize for young researchers and the 2010 SINTEF Prize, and is an editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Public Health. Eikemo's current roles include steering NTNU Health and advocating for evidence-based policies to reduce health disparities.
