Dr. Teresa Shafer serves as Professor of Management in the School of Business at Tiffin University and holds the executive position of Vice President for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, overseeing institutional research, strategic planning, global education, career services, and accreditation activities.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. and M.A. from Bowling Green State University alongside a B.A. from The Ohio State University. Prior to her university career, she taught at OSU's Marion campus and spent ten years in the insurance industry before joining Tiffin University in 1993 as an adjunct professor during doctoral studies.
Dr. Shafer has held progressive leadership roles including founding Director of the degree completion program, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Dean of Assessment, and Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs. She is nationally recognized as an accreditation specialist serving as a Peer Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and has secured maximum reaffirmations from ODHE, HLC, and ACBSP. Her international oversight includes Tiffin's 20-year EMBA program and new BBA in Management launching in Bucharest, Romania, while also serving on the ECBE Board.
Her research focuses on Management, Higher Education Administration, and Accreditation systems, with professional contributions emphasizing strategic institutional effectiveness and global educational expansion.
Dr. Shafer's career demonstrates sustained leadership in academic administration, accreditation compliance, and international program development, driving Tiffin University's strategic growth while maintaining rigorous educational standards across domestic and global operations.
