Teresa Abada is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Western University. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Alberta. Her research focuses on immigration, social integration of immigrant children, and the socio-cultural factors influencing economic outcomes for immigrants. She currently directs the Collaborative Program in Migration and Ethnic Relations (MER).

Her research explores transnationalism, immigrant health, and the intersection of gender roles with educational attainment. Key projects include analyzing the Canadian Live-in Caregiver Program and second-generation homeownership trends. She has supervised multiple PhD and MA theses on topics ranging from remittance behaviors to political integration of immigrants.
Publications span journals like Journal of International Migration and Integration and Sociological Inquiry, with a focus on migration policy and socio-economic integration. Current research compares Filipino immigrants' economic integration in Canada and the US.
