Terence OKeeffe is a Professor and Section Chief in the Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia. He specializes in Trauma/Critical Care, with expertise in surgical critical care, hemorrhagic shock, and trauma research. His academic credentials include an MBChB (Medicine, Edinburgh University, 1994) and an MPH (Epidemiology, University of Miami, 2005).
Dr. OKeeffe's research focuses on trauma patient outcomes, prehospital care strategies, and clinical trials in critical care. His recent work analyzes adverse events in hemorrhagic shock, mechanisms of injury-related mortality, and biomarker-driven interventions like tranexamic acid therapy. He has authored chapters on intensive care principles and pioneered interactive media approaches for trauma trial design.
He holds certifications including Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS, 2023), American Board of Surgery (ABS, 2004), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS, 2022). His awards include the Distinguished Faculty Award (2023) and the SCCM Presidential Citation (2017).
In teaching, he instructs courses such as Acute Care Surgery Externship and Anesthesia Critical Care, training surgical residents in trauma, critical care, and clinical clerkships.
