Adel Abuzeid is an Associate Professor at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), holding dual academic appointments in the Department of Surgery (Trauma/Critical Care) and the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. He specializes in trauma care, critical care medicine, and surgical education. He is actively involved in teaching, including courses such as Acute Care Surgery Externship and Anesthesia Critical Care. His research focuses on trauma resuscitation protocols, geospatial analysis of trauma and crime, and healthcare education innovations.
Dr. Abuzeid received his MBBS in Medicine from St. Bartholomew's & the Royal London Medical School in 1999. He holds certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and is board-certified in surgery. He has been recognized with the Exemplary Teaching Award for Graduate Medical Education from MCG in both 2017 and 2015.
His professional service includes roles across multiple committees at MCG, including Chair of the Trauma Resuscitation Video Review Committee and membership in the Mortality and Morbidity Committee. He also contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives like the Multi-Disciplinary Trauma Operations Committee and the Perioperative Blood Management Committee.
