Teng-Chou Chen holds the position of Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Manchester. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being. He completed his PhD at the University of Nottingham (2014–2019) and holds a Master of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmacy from Kaohsiung Medical University.
His research focuses on pharmacoepidemiology, drug utilization patterns, and public health outcomes, with a particular emphasis on opioid use, chronic disease management, and healthcare policy. Key areas include optimizing opioid prescribing practices, investigating breast cancer therapeutics, and exploring outcomes in patient populations such as those with psoriasis or frailty.
Recent studies have examined regional opioid prescribing disparities, fertility trends in psoriasis patients, and longitudinal opioid safety in Taiwan. His work is frequently published in open-access journals like PLoS ONE and Cancers, with a focus on methodological rigor and policy relevance.
Chen collaborates internationally, contributing to projects like the Global Opioid Utilization Research Collaborative. He also engages in media outreach, with studies featured in national outlets and social media platforms.
