Dr. Sujith Ramachandran is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Administration and Research Associate Professor at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. He also serves as the Assistant Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical Marketing & Management. His roles include teaching courses like Pharmacoepidemiology and advising student research. He holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science (2017) and an MS (2015) from the University of Mississippi.
His research focuses on reducing healthcare disparities through studies in healthcare outcomes, opioid utilization, substance use, and patient-reported outcomes. Notable projects include analyzing opioid prescribing patterns and their impacts on older adults, as well as exploring barriers to opioid access among chronic pain patients. He has received awards such as the American Academy of Colleges of Pharmacy’s New Investigator Award (2019) and the UM School of Pharmacy's New Investigator Award (2021).
Dr. Ramachandran has secured funding from the National Institutes of Drug Abuse and other organizations. His work spans multiple areas: investigating the effects of air pollution on respiratory health, evaluating medication adherence thresholds for chronic conditions, and analyzing immune checkpoint inhibitor toxicity in oncology patients. He actively contributes to improving healthcare quality through evidence-based interventions and policy recommendations.
His advising and grant activity includes mentoring student thesis projects and leading studies on topics like herpes zoster vaccine uptake and the economic burden of immune-related adverse events. He is affiliated with the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and teaches courses such as
