Yi Yang

Dr. Yi Yang serves as Chair and Professor of Pharmacy Administration and Research Professor in the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Mississippi. He is affiliated with the School of Pharmacy and leads the Department of Pharmacy Administration. His expertise focuses on health economics and outcomes research, including comparative safety and effectiveness studies, pharmacoepidemiology, and healthcare cost analysis.

Dr. Yang holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (2004). His NIH-funded research evaluates opioid therapy and tapering outcomes in older adults using real-world evidence from health insurance claims and patient registries. He teaches core courses such as Health Economics (PHAD 693), Pharmacoeconomics (PHAD 794), and Social and Administrative Pharmacy II (PHCY 432).

His research has been supported by federal grants, and he collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to advance healthcare policy through data-driven insights. Dr. Yang’s work emphasizes translating evidence into actionable strategies for optimizing pharmaceutical care and resource utilization.
