Professor Tari Turner is a Research Professor at Cochrane Australia and Director of the Australian Living Evidence Collaboration (ALEC), leading global efforts in evidence synthesis and living guidelines development. She holds a PhD from Monash University and additional qualifications from Swinburne University and the University of Melbourne. Her work focuses on innovative methods for evidence synthesis, particularly living systematic reviews and guidelines, with applications in maternal and child health, vaccine development, and pandemic response.
Key affiliations include editor roles at the Cochrane Library and WHO advisory positions. She led the Australian National Clinical Evidence Taskforce during the pandemic, producing ultra-rapid living guidelines updated over 130 times. Turner also chairs WHO technical committees and serves as an Honorary Principal Research Fellow at the Burnet Institute.
Research interests emphasize translating evidence into healthcare policy, with a focus on low-resource settings. Over 130 publications span implementation science, guideline methodology, and clinical interventions for conditions like post-COVID syndrome and asthma. Awards include the 2021 Dean's Excellence in Research award for her team's contributions to living guideline innovation.
Current projects include vaccine efficacy studies, quality appraisal frameworks for guidelines, and maternal health guideline development funded by the Australian Department of Health. Her work aligns with UN SDGs targeting health equity and sustainable development.
