Miranda Cumpston is a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University, specializing in evidence synthesis and systematic reviews. She currently serves as Guidelines Program Manager at the Australian Living Evidence Consortium (ALEC), leading the development of living clinical guidelines for pregnancy and postnatal care (LEAPP project). Additionally, she co-directs Cochrane's Planetary Health Thematic Group and leads ALEC's Climate Health initiative. Her research focuses on improving methods for evidence synthesis, particularly in public health and planetary health contexts. She has collaborated internationally, including roles with Cochrane's training programs and policy translation initiatives.
Education: PhD in Epidemiology (Monash University), Master of Public Health (University of Queensland), Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Government (University of Sydney).
Research Interests: Systematic reviews, evidence-based policy, clinical guidelines, and the intersection of health with environmental sustainability. Recent work includes methodological advancements in narrative synthesis and living guidelines, as well as climate change impacts on health.
Scientific Awards: 2021 Dean's Awards for Excellence in Research (team award).
Key Contributions: Co-edited the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions (2nd Edition), led global training programs for systematic review authors, and contributed to projects like the ICONS-Quant initiative improving narrative synthesis reporting.
