Tarela Ike

Dr. Tarela Ike is Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Policing at Teesside University. Her research examines counter-terrorism, police accountability, and reintegration of former extremists in Nigeria. Methodologically, she employs mixed-methods approaches including interpretative phenomenological analysis to study victim experiences with law enforcement.

Current projects include a feasibility study on Legal Education-Informed CBT to rebuild trust in Nigerian policing, and participatory action research on trauma-informed reintegration strategies for ex-combatants. She holds an LLB, LLM in International Law and Criminal Justice, and a PhD from the University of East London.
