Dr. Tarek Rana is an Associate Professor of Accounting at RMIT University's School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain. He holds a PhD from UNSW Australia, MBA from the University of Saskatchewan, and B.Com/M.Com degrees from the University of Dhaka. With over 10 years of teaching experience, he developed RMIT's Accounting Data Analytics and Visualization course. His research focuses on ESG accounting, sustainability practices, and the intersection of technology with management accounting. He has been awarded research excellence by his university's Dean and College.
Professional Experience: Former senior manager/partner in Australian accounting firms, with expertise in taxation, auditing, and risk management. Served on executive committees for CPA Australia, CIMA Victoria Branch (2019-2022), and other professional bodies.
Research Interests: Sustainability accounting, ESG integration, public sector management, business analytics, and machine learning applications in accounting. His work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals like climate action, responsible consumption, and clean energy.
Collaborations: Editing special issues in top journals, co-authoring over 100 publications including books on ESG and carbon accounting. Currently serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Accounting and Organizational Change.
