Douglas Stuart is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business (University of Victoria), specializing in Sustainability Reporting, Accounting, and Taxation. He holds a BCom from UVic and an MPAcc from the University of Saskatchewan, alongside Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) credentials. His teaching focuses on Management Finance, Taxation for Managers, and Financial Accounting since 2018.
Research interests span corporate sustainability practices, ESG reporting standards, Indigenous taxation complexities, and generational fiscal policy impacts. He has published widely on topics like clean energy transitions, whistleblower protections, and Indigenous entrepreneurship support mechanisms.
Stuart has received the Excellence in Teaching Award (2021) and led a LTSI-funded grant to decolonize financial management curricula by integrating Indigenous perspectives. His work emphasizes bridging academic theory with practical business challenges through innovative teaching methods and cross-sector collaborations.
Media engagements include discussions on Canada’s first home savings account and Indigenous tax education initiatives. He actively presents at teaching symposiums on online pedagogy and curriculum indigenization.
