Taran Patel

Prof. Taran Patel is a Senior/Full Professor in the Department of People, Organizations and Society at GEM (Grenoble École de Management), France. She currently serves as Director of GEM's Doctoral School, overseeing both DBA and PhD programs. Previously, she was Program Director of the MIB (Master of International Business) program (2009–2013). Her academic journey includes a PhD from the Open University (UK, 2006) and an HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) from the University of Rouen (France, 2022).

Her research focuses on cross-cultural management, leadership effectiveness, business ethics, and gender equality. Notable works include her 2007 book Stereotypes of Intercultural Management (awarded EFMD’s best doctoral thesis) and her 2013 co-edited volume Cultural Spaces in International Business. She has published widely in journals like Organization, European Management Review, and Journal of Business Ethics.

Prof. Patel’s consulting includes diversity training for Atos Origin and AXA, and she was invited to speak at the World Diversity Leadership Summit at the UN (2007). She serves on research advisory and faculty recruitment committees for Indian and European business schools. Her awards include the 2013 Research Excellence Award from India’s President (Dr. Pranab Mukherjee).

Her teaching spans cultural issues in international business, organizational behavior, leadership, and qualitative research methods. Recent work explores mindfulness in management, gender role reconfiguration in India, and cross-national leadership taxonomies. She advocates for multiparadigmatic approaches to cultural studies in management, emphasizing dynamic frameworks over static models.
