Tara M. Holman is an Assistant Professor of Literature and Creative Writing at Hamilton College, specializing in 20th- and 21st-century African American and Black Atlantic literature and culture with a focus on gender and sexuality.
- Education: Ph.D. in English from Brown University; B.A. in English and International Studies from Bryn Mawr College
Her research explores intersections of black feminisms, race and aesthetics, visual culture studies, and queer performance studies. She is affiliated with Hamilton College's Literature and Creative Writing department and has been teaching courses such as Self-Articulation: Between Fiction and Autobiography and Passing Down: Slavery and Its Afterlives.
In 2023, she published an interview titled Presence to Possibility: Interview with Alexis Pauline Gumbs in Mosaic journal's special issue on Black/Queer/Lit. Her dissertation, Black 'Ungendered' Maternity, a Poetics: Creative Enactments toward Black Relation, reflects her interdisciplinary approach.
