Tanvir Bush is a Research Fellow at Bath Spa University, affiliated with the School of Education, and holds the Engage Fellowship 2024. She co-chairs the Empathy and Writing Research Group and founded the SenseAbility festival. Her work bridges creative writing, disability activism, and public engagement, focusing on topics like transformational inclusion and climate research. She also serves as a Corsham Town Councillor.
Education includes a PhD in Creative Writing (Bath Spa University, 2016), an MA, and a BA (Hons). Her research explores creative writing’s impact on well-being and empathy’s role in mitigating prejudice. She facilitates the Creative Writing Laboratory, emphasizing techniques to enhance creativity and social resilience.
Research interests include disability rights, climate precarity, and the intersection of academia with local governance. She has led projects such as the UKRI-funded 'Sensing Climate Project' and co-founded Bath Spa’s Disabled Staff Network. Awards include nominations for documentary film accolades and her Engage Fellowship.
Her novels, Cull (2019) and Witch Girl (2015), blend satire, social critique, and personal narrative. She also produced acclaimed documentaries, including Choka! - Get Lost!, addressing HIV/AIDS and youth in Zambia. Collaborations span academia, arts, and community initiatives, reflecting her commitment to intersectional advocacy.
