Lucy Christopher is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Tasmania’s School of Humanities. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University and has extensive international experience in academia and professional writing. Her research interests include creative writing for young people, empathy in narratives, psychology, ecocriticism, and place-based storytelling. Previously, she served as Course Director for the MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University, leading one of Europe’s most successful programs. She has also established writing retreats in Mexico and collaborated with institutions worldwide.
Her awards include the Printz Honor Award, Branford Boase Award, and Gold Inky Award, among others. Lucy has taught globally, including roles at the University of Wales and Bath Spa University, and has managed large academic teams and research initiatives. Current projects include editing her first adult novel, Release, and a narrative non-fiction work on walking and identity.

Lucy’s teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a focus on creative writing modules and supervising over forty MA students. She mentors PhD candidates in Creative Writing and has served as an external examiner for Viva panels in the UK and Australia.
