Tanner Connell is an Affiliate Member of the Medical Physics Unit at McGill University and a Clinical Physicist in the Department of Medical Physics at the McGill University Health Centre. He holds a BSc in Physics from Dalhousie University (2004), an MSc in Medical Physics from McGill University (2009), and a PhD in Physics from McGill University (2015).
His research focuses on advanced radiation therapy technologies, including the FLASH effect, modulated electron therapy, and treatment beamline imaging using low-Z targets. He specializes in laser-based radiation sources and high dose rate dosimetry, with clinical implementation of novel techniques and equipment being a key part of his work.
Dr. Connell has contributed to publications such as Laser & Photonics Reviews, including a 2024 study on high dose-rate MeV electron beams generated via femtosecond IR lasers in ambient air. His work bridges theoretical physics and clinical applications in radiation oncology.
He is recognized as a Member of the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (MCCPM) since 2017.
