Dr. Kurtis Dekker is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology. He holds a PhD and is a Medical Physicist certified by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (MCCPM). His current clinical appointment focuses on radiation oncology, specializing in external beam radiation therapy, high-dose-rate brachytherapy, and the implementation of novel radiation therapy techniques.
Dr. Dekker’s education interests include training medical physics and radiation oncology residents, as well as undergraduate and graduate students in medical physics. His research spans software tools for treatment planning and data analysis, geometric uncertainty in brachytherapy, applications of 3D printing in radiotherapy, and advancements in radiochromic film and gel dosimetry alongside optical imaging systems.
