Tanja Mimmo

Tanja Mimmo is a Professor of Agricultural Chemistry at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, affiliated with the Faculty of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Sciences. She has been a key figure in advancing research on soil science and plant nutrition since her promotion to full professor in 2019.

• Director of the Competence Center for Plant Health (2020–2025)

Her research focuses on rhizosphere dynamics, nutrient absorption efficiency, and soil contamination by heavy metals and microplastics. She explores soil-plant-microorganism interactions to enhance sustainable agricultural practices.

Tanja leads major research projects like ECHO, HuMUS, and MicroDARWIN, emphasizing soil health and climate change mitigation. She has supervised over 20 bachelor’s theses, five master’s theses, and seven doctoral theses.

She teaches courses such as Soil Chemistry and Fertility and Soil Protection, contributing to the education of future experts in sustainable agriculture systems.
